in Greenwood, MS, on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend

Mrs. Meeks was born September 14, 1916, in Reform, Alabama, to Elva Caroline
Langdon Keasler and James Ira Keasler. After moving as a young girl to
Marianna, Arkansas, she went on to graduate from Marianna High School. It
wasn't until the age of 20 that Ruth attended a dance and caught the eye of
Roy Arney Meeks. Married at 21, January 3, 1937, Roy and Ruth enjoyed 55
years together raising two sons, Roy Arney Meeks Jr. and Edwin Keasler

For many years, she enjoyed raising her boys while attending Boy Scout
events, baseball games and introducing them to the game of golf. Also, Ruth
and Roy were very fond of the community dances they attended frequently. It
wasn't until after the boys left to attend college at Mississippi State
University that Ruth began to work on her own golf skills. She was an active
member of the Greenwood Country Club and the MS Women's Golf Association.
She enjoyed playing with her friends and grandchildren well into her 80s and
traveling with her granddaughter, Cissye, and her husband, Jim, on the PGA
tour. She was an active participant in all of her family's sporting

Many friends remember Ruth as a devoted caregiver to her husband who
suffered from Parkinson's disease while simultaneously providing daily care
to her mother-in-law at Golden Age Nursing Home. Her sincere devotion to
those she loved was a true picture of her servant's heart.

Ruth was affectionately called "Mom" by all of her family and friends. She
was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood where she was
faithful until her health prevented her from attending. Even a stroke at the
age of 90 did not alter her loving and pleasant attitude toward life. Her
sweet and dignified spirit epitomized her Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Arney Meeks of Teoc,
daughter-in-law, Linda Dycus Meeks of Greenwood, and grandson, David Walker
Meeks of Leland.

She is survived by her sons, Roy (Dot Walker) of Leland and Ed (the late
Linda Dycus) of Teoc. In addition, her grandchildren, Keasler Meeks of
Teoc, Tim Meeks (Tracy) of Jackson, Cissye Gallagher (Jim) of Greenwood,
Beth Cobb (Nicky) of Madison and Cyndi Saia (Tony) of Greenwood. Also, her
great-grandchildren, Mary Langdon Gallagher Hardman (Caleb), Katelyn Meeks
West (Jonathan), Thomas Gallagher (McKinley), Miriam Meeks, Nicholas Cobb,
Kathleen Gallagher, Russell Cobb, Olivia Meeks, Caroline Cobb, Elizabeth
Gallagher, Walker Saia and Wyatt Saia; and her great-great-grandsons,
Emerson West and Tommy Hardman.

Ruth spent the last years of her life at Golden Age Nursing Home where she
was cared for by many loving people. Resident of the Month was an honor she
received often as she always had a smile to share. The family appreciates
the visits, prayers and concerns from so many people that loved Mom.

Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy at One Fine Place, French Camp,
MS 39745.

My prayers for the family of Miss Ruth. From my earliest years on West Adams, she was a lady that always admired and looked up to. Heaven has a new angel.

To each and every family member, please accept my sincere condolences at the passing of a truly beautiful lady (inside and out)! What a privilege to have known her! As the late great Reverend Billy Graham said, "I will not die, I'll just change addresses!" Miss Ruth has just changed addresses. Her life lives on through each of you! God be with each of you today and the days to come! Know you are thought of and lifted in prayer!
