Obituary for Doris Ann Perry Youngblood

Doris Perry Youngblood, 83, passed away Wednesday November 22, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral services are noon Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Greenwood Funeral Home with interment in McNutt Cemetery in Schlater, MS. Rev. Elbert McKnight will officiate.

Visitation is from 10 A.M. until service.

Doris was born to Joshua P. and Mildred Perry on August 21, 1934, in Randolph TN. She was raised in Tate County and moved to Tallahatchie County in 1952. She was a very active and devoted member of Riverside Baptist Church in Money, Ms., where she served as Church treasurer.

She was a prolific gardener who loved to share the bounty of her labors. She was famous for her “Mammaw” biscuits. She worked as a seamstress for many years. She spent her retirement years in fellowship with her family, friends, and fellow church members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Betty Winters, and a great grandchild, Brayden Martin Kelly.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Martin Arvell Youngblood. Three daughters, Barbara Gregg of Pearl, MS., Sharon Beckum (Butch) of Minter City, MS, Karen Chapman (Carl) of Wynne, AR. Three sons, Martin “Mike” Youngblood, Jr. (Cathy) of Carroll County, MS, James Youngblood of Hernando, MS, Paul Youngblood (Sharon) of Tupelo, MS. Sisters- Beatrice Hornbuckle of Kokomo, IN, Barbara Brewer of Mobile, AL, Margaret Holcomb of Mountain View, AR. 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and a special set of twins.

Pallbearers will be Brent Gregg, Jason Beckum, Anthony Youngblood, Kyle Chapman, Tristin Hoover, and Cannon Harvey.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.

A special thanks to her caregiver, Barbara Gregg, and extraordinary friends, Jenny Flynn, Margo Goss and Pat Goss Lovorn.
