On February 26, 1921, God blessed Oscar Ellis Bridges and Catherine Garrett Bridges of Hazlehurst, MS with the birth of a beautiful baby girl-Annie Katherine Bridges. A large happy family celebrated the birth of this baby girl.
Ann spent her young life growing up in Hazlehurst until one day she met a tall handsome young man named Curtis Newton Rasberry. They soon married and set out to establish their new home together. In 1943 they moved to Greenwood, MS, where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
On Tuesday morning, March 6, 2018 God chose to take Ann home with Him to rejoin her husband, family and friends who awaited her arrival.
Ann will always be remembered as a wonderful neighborhood mom and friend who had daily homemade treats for the whole neighborhood after school. She was often referred to as the “sweetest Mom” in North Greenwood. She was a charter member of North Greenwood Baptist Church where she was active in the children’s ministry and the senior adult ministry, LLL. She was also an active member of the Greenwood Woman’s Club.
Ann was a caring teacher at St. John’s United Methodist Kindergarten and the First Presbyterian Church Kindergarten.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis, her parents, four sisters and one brother.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Rasberry Kimbrough of Greenwood, MS, Sharon Rasberry Palm and her husband Elmer Carl Palm of Helena, AL, and Katherine Rasberry Carver and her husband, Newt W. Carver, III of Ruleville, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Catherine Kimbrough Alderman and her husband Howard, William Poindexter, IV, Newton W. Carver, IV, Curtis Garrett Carver and his wife Dawn and Hartley Armstrong Carver. Survivors also include 6 great grandchildren, James Howard Alderman, Anna Katherine Alderman, Abby Bishop Alderman, Jacob Carver, Davis Carver and Claire Carver.
Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday March 10, 2018 at Odd Fellows Cemetery with a memorial service to follow a 12 noon at North Greenwood Baptist Church. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate. Visitation will be from 11-noon Saturday prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Howard Alderman, James Howard Alderman, Will Kimbrough Garrett Carver, Hartley Carver and Tim Taylor.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Indywood Glen, Sunflower Home Health, her caregivers; Tara McCaskill, Georgia Swinney, Debbie Higginbotham, Dot Taber and to Dr. Henry Flautt and Nicki Lary.
